Prepping Your Kitchen For Holiday Baking.

Updated: Sep 12, 2023

The autumn season is upon us, and slowly but surely, the leaves will undergo a beautiful transformation. Sweaters will make their debut, and the delightful scents of the holiday season will begin to fill the air. Personally, I must admit that I'm not a culinary expert,

but I absolutely love experimenting in the kitchen, constantly seeking to expand my culinary skills. Typically, I kickstart my baking adventures in September, mastering those delectable treats and creations that will grace our tables until the year's end.

Discovering recipes that leave a lasting impression on your guests' palates, leaving them yearning for more, is an ongoing challenge. I encourage you to embark on this culinary journey now; don't hesitate to tweak recipes, explore new culinary horizons, and have confidence in your abilities. Baking, for some, can be akin to nurturing plants - some of us struggle, and things may occasionally burn or turn out less than perfect, much like our houseplants may not thrive, no matter how much we care for them.

I can assure you, as someone relatively new to the world of baking and cooking, I've found immense joy in my kitchen endeavors. A few strategies have significantly improved my experience. Firstly, declutter your kitchen! Entering the baking season amidst chaos can be overwhelming and may lead to premature surrender. Get organized and check the expiration dates on your seasonings, spices, and baking essentials such as flour, sugar, baking powder, nutmeg, cinnamon, and so forth. If you're feeling particularly adventurous, you can even revamp your spice jars like I did and shared on my Instagram account. Sorry I started down the organizing rabbit hole; let's refocus on preparing the kitchen for holiday baking.

Now that you've successfully decluttered and organized, which may have taken a day or two, it's essential to ensure you have all the necessary tools and ingredients at your fingertips to prevent any last-minute stress during your baking endeavors. I've compiled a list of my absolute favorite kitchen essentials, which you can find below.

Up to this point, you've gathered your chosen recipes, put them to the test, organized your kitchen space, and confirmed the availability of all your essentials. Now, here's a tip: take a moment to refresh yourself. A quick shower, a bit of hairstyling, and a rejuvenated spirit can work wonders. Turn on your favorite music—I personally opt for a "Pandora" playlist featuring Nora Jones—then don your apron, pour yourself a drink of your choice, and embark on your baking adventure with enthusiasm! I hope you feel inspired!
